About the Artist:

Steven Jupurrurla Nelson is a Warlpiri artist born in 1978 in Alice Springs and raised in the remote community of Yuendumu. His family’s country is near Nyirrpi, west of Yuendumu, and this area influences his artwork. Steven began painting in 2014 at Warlukurlangu Artists after working there as an arts worker. His work primarily focuses on Janganpa Jukurrpa (Brush-Tail Possum Dreaming), a story from his mother’s side.
