    Kawase Hasui

    Kawase Hasui (Japanese, 1883 - 1957) was one the great masters of the Shin Hanga ("New Prints") movement. Shortly before his death in 1957, his art work was declared a Living National Treasure by the Japanese government. Hasui's 1935 colorblock print Azalea Garden is in the the collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
