About the Artist:

Andrea Mimpitja Adamson, born in 1981 in Amata on the APY Lands of South Australia, is a Pitjantjatjara artist now based in Alice Springs. Coming from a distinguished artistic family—her grandfather was renowned painter Tiger Palpatja and her aunt, Rini Tiger—Andrea carries a deep cultural and creative legacy. She began painting in her late teens, drawing inspiration from the storytelling traditions of her community and the landscapes of her Country. Andrea is best known for her vibrant depictions of the Seven Sisters Tjukurrpa (Creation Story), a powerful ancestral narrative in which the sisters, pursued by Wati Nyiru, shape the land and sky as they flee. Her richly coloured, symbol-laden works often include her lucky number three, hidden within each piece. Through her art, Andrea shares the enduring presence of her culture and keeps the Tjukurrpa strong for future generations.
