Varcoe Ngarrindjeri Scarf
Varcoe Ngarrindjeri Scarf is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This organic cotton scarf features artwork by Indigenous Australian artist Cedric Varcoe, telling the powerful Ngarrindjeri creation story of Ngurunderi and Pondi, the Murray Cod. As Ngurunderi followed Pondi down what was then a narrow stream, the Cod’s sweeping tail carved the winding path of the Murray River and shaped the surrounding lakes and landforms. Along this journey, Ngurunderi brought rain, formed rainbows, and taught his people the lore, dance, and survival skills that remain central to Ngarrindjeri culture. The story ends with Ngurunderi ascending to the spirit world, now seen in the Milky Way. Cedric’s artwork brings this story to life in vibrant, meaningful detail.
