Migration Throw Blanket

$ 84.00

This cotton throw features artwork by Bianca Dodd, using a soft palette of earth tones and blues to reflect the traditional migration patterns of her ancestors. These journeys formed a vast network of Indigenous Australian culture, shaped by landmarks, natural resources, and deep knowledge of Country. In harmony with the seasons, these patterns reflect a way of life that is both sustainable and spiritually connected to the land. Bianca’s design beautifully honors this legacy, offering a meaningful connection to culture and place.

About the Artist:

Bianca Gardiner-Dodd is a contemporary Indigenous Australian artist whose work powerfully captures the beauty, rhythm, and cultural richness of Australia’s coastal landscapes. Born in 1978 and of Kamilaroi heritage, Bianca’s art is deeply rooted in her connection to Country, with strong cultural ties to Bundjalung Country through her husband and children. Her paintings often explore themes of movement, migration, and the interconnectedness of land, sea, and spirit, using earthy tones and flowing forms to reflect the estuaries, dunes, and marine life of the North Coast of New South Wales. Drawing on her background in dance and choreography, Bianca brings a dynamic sense of flow and storytelling to each canvas, blending traditional symbolism with contemporary expression. Her work serves as both a personal journey and a visual narrative of cultural memory, making space for reflection on identity, belonging, and the enduring presence of Dreaming stories in the modern world.
