About the Artist:
Jackie Wirramanda is a multidisciplinary Indigenous artist from Victoria with Wergaia and Djupagulk Gunditj heritage. Her work is inspired by Lake Tyrrell, a sacred site of her ancestors, and features traditional iconography such as water pools, gathering sites, and journey paths. An important aspect of her work is the narrative of the female experience within Indigenous communities, highlighting women's central role in nurturing and food preparation. Jackie's layered and colorful imagery references traditional crafts like weaving and body decoration, creating a beautiful and complex representation of Indigenous culture. She currently resides in Chinkapook, Central Victoria.
