Two Dog Ancestors Travel Mug
Two Dog Ancestors Travel Mug is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This porcelain insulated travel mug features artwork by Murdie Nampijinpa Morris, inspired by the Malikijarra Jukurrpa (Two Dogs Dreaming). In this Warlpiri Dreaming, two ancestral dogs, a Jampijinpa and a Napangardi, journeyed across the land, reunited, and began a life together in Warlaku (Ali Curung), surrounded by family. Their journey reflects deep values of kinship, unity, and belonging—qualities that make this mug not just useful for everyday life, but also a reminder of connection and care. Double-walled for insulation, it keeps drinks hot or cold longer while preventing condensation, and the sturdy porcelain build with a silicone lid makes it a stylish, eco-friendly choice for on-the-go sipping.

About the Artist:
Murdie Nampijinpa Morris was born in the 1930s at Rabbit Flat in the Tanami Desert, Northern Territory. A senior custodian of her Country, she grew up living a traditional lifestyle and learning cultural knowledge around the Nyirripi area. After moving to Yuendumu in the early 1980s, she worked at the Old People’s Home before beginning her artistic journey in 2012 with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation. Murdie paints her father’s Dreamings—Maliki Jukurrpa (Domestic Dog Dreaming) and Malikijarra Jukurrpa (Two Dog Dreaming)—stories deeply connected to her ancestral Country. Known for her vibrant, expressive style and distinctive pastel palette, her work offers a powerful contemporary interpretation of Warlpiri culture and has gained recognition both nationally and internationally.
