About the Artists:

  • Ada Nangala Dixon was born in 1952 at Mount Doreen, a cattle breeding station 55 km west of Yuendumu in the Northern Territory of Australia. Painting is a family tradition. Ada's father is Pegleg Jampijinpa, a Pintupi artist. Her mother is Margaret Napangardi Brown, a Warlukurlangu artist with her sister Joy Nangala Brown. Ada paints her Father’s Jukurrpa (Dreaming), especially Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming). The land, the plants and the animals are depicted on the recycled tote bag.
  • Kirsten Nangala Egan, born in 1989 in Yuendumu, Northern Territory Australia, paints her family’s Dreamings, including Emu, Fire Country, Flying Ant, and Water Dreamings. Passed down from her mother Madeleine Napangardi Dixon and grandmother Jeannie Nungarrayi Egan, her art reflects the land and its life.
  • Jennifer Napaljarri Lewis was born in 1962 in Areyonga, an Aboriginal community in a valley of the Macdonnell Ranges 220 km south west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Jennifer belongs to the Pitjantjatjara people and her traditional land is Mutitjula at the eastern end of Uluru. Her unrestricted palette with traditional patterns, depicts her traditional Jukurrpa stories.
